YouTube transcript questions

How do I copy a YouTube transcript?

Paste a YouTube link. Select Get transcript. Copy the captions or download Markdown. The optional Chrome extension can also copy captions while you watch.

Does it extract YouTube Shorts transcripts?

Shorts capture uses the video’s watch page. Available captions are required. YouTube can block some requests. Open the video transcript and try again. Live Shorts support is still being verified.

Does it transcribe videos without captions?

No. YouTube to Text reads available YouTube captions. It does not generate text from audio.

Can I use it with ChatGPT, Claude and Grok?

After capture, select an AI button to copy the transcript and open a chat. Paste the text in that chat. Then send your message. You can also download Markdown and attach the file. The optional local MCP server supports compatible desktop clients, such as Claude Desktop and Codex.
