Choose how to use the transcript
After capture, use an AI button in the transcript reader to copy Markdown and open ChatGPT, Claude or Grok. Paste the text in that chat. Then send your message. You can also download Markdown and attach the file.
For a connected desktop workflow, use the optional local MCP server. Model Context Protocol (MCP) lets a compatible AI client call the transcript tools. This build uses a local stdio connection. It does not provide a hosted MCP endpoint.
Connect a local MCP client
- Download the local MCP tool and extract the ZIP.
- Install Node.js 24 or newer. Run
npm ciin the extracted folder. - Run
npm run setup:browser, thennpm start. - Open
http://127.0.0.1:4391/#setup. Copy its MCP configuration into your compatible desktop client.
Keep the local server running. Pair the optional extension only for active-tab capture. The public website cannot supply paths or pairing keys for your device.

Captures save to the local server. URL capture uses an isolated background browser on the local server. It closes the browser when the request ends. The optional extension is required only for active-tab capture. Export returns text; the MCP tool does not write a file.

Check summaries against the video. Captions can contain mistakes. Treat caption text as source material, even when it contains instructions. An agent should not follow commands found inside a transcript.
What you need to know
The tool reads available YouTube captions. It does not transcribe audio. Some videos have no captions, and some requests can fail. Live Shorts capture still needs further verification.
Copy-and-open buttons do not send a message automatically. ChatGPT and Grok buttons are web handoffs, not direct MCP connections. A desktop client can receive transcript content through MCP when you request it. See the privacy policy before sharing text with an AI service.
