Who operates this tool

BusinessPress operates YouTube to Text at youtube-to-text.businesspress.io. Contact dpo@businesspress.io for privacy questions and requests.

No account, advertising or analytics code is included in this launch version.

What happens when you capture

The server receives your video link and optional caption language. An isolated anonymous browser contacts YouTube and reads available captions. It returns the video ID, title, channel, caption language, timing, caption text and capture date. The browser closes when the request ends.

Transcript text is processed in memory and is not saved in a server transcript library. The worker does not attach to your Chrome profile, import its cookies, read saved passwords or retain signed caption URLs.

Saved transcripts stay in your browser

The website stores up to 30 recent captures in local browser storage under youtube-to-text-transcripts-v1. If storage is full, it retains fewer captures. These copies remain until you delete them, replace them with newer captures or clear this site’s browser data. Other visitors cannot read your library through the server API.

Use Saved transcripts to delete a capture. Downloaded files, clipboard text and backups are separate copies. Delete those separately.

Sessions and service logs

A necessary tc_session cookie authorizes capture requests. It uses HttpOnly, Secure and SameSite Strict, and has no persistent expiry. The session list stays in server memory and resets when the service restarts.

The server uses your IP address in memory for a one-minute request limit. Hosting and network providers can process connection details to deliver and protect the service. Application access logging is disabled for this site; transcript text is not written to application logs. Cloudflare provides network delivery, and Hetzner hosts the server.

We process these service details to answer your request and prevent abuse. You can contact us about access, correction, deletion or objection and raise a concern with your local data protection authority.

YouTube and AI websites

Capture contacts YouTube from the server. The embedded privacy-enhanced player also connects your browser to YouTube. YouTube handles these connections under its own policy.

ChatGPT, Claude and Grok buttons copy Markdown and open the selected website. They do not put transcript text in the destination URL or submit a chat message. You decide when to paste, upload or send it. That service then handles the text under its own policy.

Optional extension and local MCP tool

The downloaded Chrome extension stores up to 30 recent captures on your device. Clear its history in the extension or uninstall it. The local tool stores its library in SQLite until you delete each capture. Pairing keys stay in the local tool and extension; this website does not reveal or accept server pairing keys.

Local MCP clients receive transcript content only when you request a tool call. The website does not provide a public MCP endpoint. Disconnect local MCP and remove exported copies separately if needed.

Questions and changes

Email dpo@businesspress.io with privacy questions. Do not send pairing keys or private transcript text unless it is needed for your request. We will update this page if the service’s data handling changes.
